Owner Tom Moore opened Ocean Pride Seafood in the spring of 1996 as a wholesale fish market. With a vision of creating Ventura's finest seafood market, he opened his doors armed with extensive knowledge and passion for perfection from his early training. Once word of his quality selections got out, offers from many well-known restaurants and country clubs landed on his plate.
Although he had an affinity for wholesale, Tom knew that greater challenges and opportunities awaited him in Ventura selling to the public. In 1999, Tom opened his doors to the public. He was given room to experiment and created quite an eclectic Fresh Fish case. He never lost sight of his passion for the freshest seafood.
He knew that in order to become known to the public, he would have to use only the finest products available, and he would have to establish a reputation with the public. Before he sold his first filet, he vowed to only use the freshest fish. Critics, such as The Ventura Reporter's "Best of Ventura" have been raving ever since. The public agrees.
